Nautical ocean navy blue and green classroom decor

I finally decided on my theme for next year! I am going to use nautical and ocean themed decor to decorate my new classroom. Yes, I am moving again this year so new room, new theme! I do not have access to my room over the summer so I took these pictures over my kitchen table which is approximately the same size as my large board. The first picture shows how I plan to use one of my boards as my calendar/ math focus wall.  I will be placing magnets onto the letter pieces and have them next to the calendar on my whiteboard. I have not decided where I will use and place all of the other pieces except the word wall which will be on a board on the adjacent wall and my number line above the calendar/ white board. There are quite a few pictures of the pieces included in the file and there are also editable pieces so you can customize your classroom.  If you would like to see the Christian file or the secular file scroll through the pictures and click on the link at the bottom. How to incorporate your weekly theme into your day!

Hello All, I was recently asked by a new pre-k teacher how I found time in the day to fit in "themes." Now those of us who have been in a pre-k/K classroom know that incorporating our weekly themes needs to go across the curriculum not just in an activity or two. At my school we use the weekly reader series and Christian Holidays to decide on our weekly themes. Once we know our themes for the year we can begin to plan. This is also how I got started with teacherspayteachers.com. Here is my process, 1. Write my themes and any quick ideas that come to me in my plan book. 2. I label my plan book by subject. (reading, vocabulary, numbers, art, centers, library, circle, science, other) 3. I then go through each theme writing down what I already know and what I need. 4. If I am short on ideas for a specific theme I hit the internet. By going through this process a few weeks before the theme week I can make a list of supplies needed and locate everything I need (if y...

How to create a themed patterning calendar!

Hello Everyone, I am so excited to show you my newest unit I have been working on perfecting this unit with new ideas and some old favorites. One of my favorite parts of this unit is the patterning calendar. This is a calendar that uses the number cards to introduce a pattern, in this case sports balls create an ABC pattern that repeats for the entire month. Below are step by step instructions on how the put together the calendar on poster board. 1. Get a large piece of poster board or tape 4 pieces of 12x12 cardstock together in the color of your choice. 2. Cut out your calendar pieces, make sure to print out three of the blank boxes page to assemble the grid. 3. Glue the Month banner on top. Write the month in the mddle of the banner or wait until after you laminate then use dry erase markers. 4. Glue your days of the week bars under the month banner. 5. Trim around all sides of first grid page. 6. Trim the second page so that 2 sides are left on. 7. Use a small ...
