Arctic Freeze: Literacy, Number Words, Sight Words and Vocabulary Unit

Last night I posted what I think is my best unit yet for TpT! Scrappindoodles.com had the cutest Arctic Animal graphics and I just couldn't resist buying them to make this unit. I just love creating worksheets and readers with their graphics. Check out some of what is included in this Winter themed Unit focusing on Arctic Animals, there are 95 pages of fun!


Vocabulary cards for flash cards, read the room and literacy centers.

Shared full page size reader with easy to understand sentences about the animals of the Arctic and Eskimos.

Rhyming practice sheets for critical thinking and rhyming ability assessment.

ABC and 1-30 ice for number/letter practice, word work and matching numbers to their words.

Number word igloos 1-30 for a combined literacy and math center and group instruction.

I have /Who has ice for ABC's, 1-20 and sight words.

Book to be printed for each child and colored, words are provided on a seperate sheet for them to cut and paste into the book following the given sentence. As shown in the next picture.

    Love this but a note. The inuit of Canada find the term "eskimo" offensive.

    Very cute, but penguins don't live in the Arctic. They only live South of the Equator.

Sight word freebie, ideas and more Dyslexia Worksheets!

Hello All, Today we had so much fun with our sight word from my freebie Snowflake Slap . First I laid out all of the snowflakes on the carpet. If the child could read me the word they could keep the card and crumple it into a snowball. Once all of the words were read and squished I told the class we could have a snowball fight! It was such great fun that we took our "snowballs" into another kinder classroom and attacked them. As the kids threw the sight word snowballs we made more snowballs and threw them into the crowd from leftover paper. It was great fun! Once we settled back into our classroom we placed all of the snowballs into a bucket and each child pulled a word. If they could read it they recorded it on the left side of the worksheet below, if they couldn't read the word they recorded it on the right. The Story of Creation Flip Book Freebie!

As many of you already know I am a Christian school teacher in a small private school. I have decided to start making my Bible craftivities into files for others to access for their own Christian classrooms or homeschools. I have just finished putting together my first file for a Creation Flip Book and it is listed for free on TpT. The file includes full picture instructions as well as an option for color or black and white. Throughout this year I plan to list each Bible story craftrivity I do in my classroom and then bundle them at the end of the year. I am also working on a God's Journal, similar to the poetry and math journals you see so often in classrooms theses days but this one will celebrate our faith. Differentiated Read the Room: Ideas for learning and a freebie!

         Read the room is an excellent center activity! I use read the room almost daily in my classroom for literacy, vocabulary, letter recognition, spelling patterns and much more! I have created a bundle of read the room activities that are differentiated in order to meet the needs of all of your students no matter what level they are on. I am a firm believer in making my classroom an environment where all children are successful and feel confident in their learning. Differentiation is just one way to help those children who may be behind or even ahead to grow and flourish in the classroom.
